Before stepping into the restaurant business, we owned a trucking company called New Era Transportation Inc. In 2018, as our trucking operations grew, we needed more space to park our trucks and trailers. While driving along Route 30 toward York, PA, Alen passed by a spot called O’Brien’s Paradise Cove. He immediately thought it would be the perfect place for our trucks. The name “O’Brien” also caught Alen’s attention because some of his best friends in high school shared that name.
Curious, Alen decided to look up the restaurant and give them a call. To our surprise, Fred O’Brien himself answered the phone. After explaining our need for parking, Fred and Alen agreed to meet the next day. From the moment they met, the two hit it off, as if they had known each other for years. When Alen stepped inside the restaurant, he was captivated by its beautiful stonework and rich history.
What started as a conversation about parking quickly shifted to the restaurant and bar business. Fred shared fascinating stories about the restaurant’s journey, sparking Alen’s interest. In a moment of boldness, Alen asked if Fred would consider selling. Being a risk-taker who thrives on challenges, Alen went home that night and told our family, “We’re going into the restaurant business!”
One month later, we became proud owners of the restaurant—with no prior experience but an unshakable belief that we could make it work. Fred and Linda became our mentors, offering their guidance and support as we learned the ropes. For two years, we balanced both the trucking company and the restaurant. Eventually, we made the decision to sell the trucking business and dedicate ourselves entirely to building something truly special here.
That decision changed everything for our family. Today, we are 100% committed to providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a unique dining experience for every customer who walks through our doors. Our goal is simple: to make you feel like part of our family every time you visit.
